August 14, 2016 RSUPESY&T graduate of the Department of theory and methods of cycling, the best Russian contemporary track sprinter Denis Dmitriev won the bronze medal in the Olympic tournament in cycling sprint.
In the fight for third place in both races the Russian was stronger than Australia's Matthew Glaetzer.
Jason Kenny from Great Britain won the Gold, the silver medalist became his compatriot Callum Skinner. Kenny became a five-time Olympic champion, earlier in Rio de Janeiro he won the team sprint.
Dmitriev's medal - the first for the Russian national team in the discipline. On the previous time the domestic cyclist won the medal of the Games in the men's sprint cycling track in 1988 in Seoul, when a Soviet athlete Nikolay Kovsh won the silver medal.
Totally Russian team earned 30 medals - 9 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze. Russians occupy fourth place in the medal standings of the Games.
